Director Farah Khan and Deepika Padukone gave Bollywood two superhits with Om Shanti Om and Happy New Year. Fans eagerly awaited their third collaboration, but the duo recently made headlines for an unexpected reason.

Some eagle-eyed fans noticed that Farah and Deepika were no longer following each other on Instagram, sparking rumours of a fallout. For a while, neither of them addressed the matter, but Farah Khan has now stepped in to clarify the situation, putting an end to the speculation.

Farah Khan told Pinkvilla that they were never following each other on Instagram because of a pact that they made during the Happy New Year shoot.

The Om Shanti Om director said, “To begin with, we were not following each other earlier, too!! We had made a pact during the Happy New Year shoot that we wouldn’t communicate on Instagram, instead, direct message and call. We don’t even wish birthday wishes on Insta because Deepika doesn’t like it. Also, my 8 hour comment wasn’t a dig it was to make Dilip say that he will now also work 8 hours when he actually works just for 2 hours!”

The Speculated Reason

Deepika and Farah’s fallout buzz grew stronger as it came soon after Farah, in her vlog, seemingly took a swipe at Deepika’s demand to work only eight-hour shifts, something she has mentioned more than once.

The timing of the unfollowing, coupled with Farah’s repeated remarks, added more weight to the speculation about tension between the actor-director duo.

On the work front, Farah Khan is focusing on her YouTube career but has promised a comeback to the big screen.

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone has been in the news for her unexpected exits from several high-profile projects. She first walked out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit opposite Prabhas, with Triptii Dimri stepping in as her replacement.

Following that, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD also confirmed their decision to part ways with the actress, citing internal differences. In the film, Deepika had been cast as Sumati (Sum80), a pivotal character shown carrying Vishnu’s final avatar, Kalki, in her womb.
