Farah Khan and Deepika Padukone have reportedly unfollowed each other after Farah seemingly took a dig at the actor around her demand for less working hours. The fallout has become a major controversy given Deepika was launched by Farah in Om Shanti Om and they’ve been close friends ever since. Farah has also unfollowed Ranveer Singh, DP’s husband, but we don’t really know if they ever followed each other. Amidst reports and rumours, Farah broke her silence and explained what really happened.

Talking to Pinkvilla, Farah Khan said, “To begin with, we were not following each other earlier, too!! We had made a pact during the Happy New Year shoot that we wouldn’t communicate on Instagram, instead, direct message and call. We don’t even wish birthday wishes on Insta because Deepika doesn’t like it. Also, my 8 hour comment wasn’t a dig it was to make Dilip say that he will now also work 8 hours when he actually works just for 2 hours!”

A news report had earlier pointed out that Farah and Deepika unfollowed each other on social media. This happened after Farah was heard taking indirect digs at Deepika, whose demand for less working hours has caused a huge debate in the industry.
In her YouTube vlogs, her cook Dilip asked Farah when Deepika will appear on the show. Farah responded, “Jiss din tu gaon jaayega na us din aayegi.” Farah further commented, “Deepika Padukone ab sirf 8 ghanta kaam karti hai, usko show pe aane ka time nhi hai.”
For the unversed, Farah and Deepika had also collaborated on Happy New Year.

This happened when Farah Khan had visited Radhikka Madan and the actor was recalling her first audition for Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi. Farah asked, “You didn’t have an 8-hour shift, I am guessing?”. Radhikka replied, “56 hours non-stop or 48 hours non-stop.” At this point, Farah shared, “Aise tapke hi toh sona banta hai.” The comment appeared to suggest that Farah does not support the 8-hour work shift.
However, in a direct response to the controversy, Farah has termed these reports “rubbish.” She commented under a media post on Instagram and wrote, “What rubbish ul write. Pls find other things to do.”

The debate around Deepika Padukone’s demand for an 8-hour work shift became public after she was dropped from two big-ticket films. Amidst reports of her exit from Kalki 2898 AD and Spirit, it was highlighted that the bone of contention between the makers and DP were her demands for less working hours, fee hike and profit sharing in the movie.
