Veteran Fox News anchor Rob Williams told viewers Friday that he is battling prostate cancer, using the broadcast to encourage more men to get tested. The 55-year-old host of Fox 19 NOW revealed his diagnosis during Morning Xtra while speaking with colleague Dan Wells. "This is my announcement, I have prostate cancer," Williams said.

He admitted he debated whether to go public but decided to share in recognition of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. "I didn't know if I was gonna share it," he said. "I've hosted this run before, but when Jim asked me to host it this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I feel like I want to talk about my prostate cancer diagnosis because I don't think, as men, we talk about it enough."

Williams, who has been with the station since 1995, said the news was startling.

"I never thought I would ever have cancer," he explained. "I've done 20 marathons, I've always been kinda healthy, I've always eaten very well. It can hit anyone."

He said the diagnosis followed a blood test two years ago that showed elevated prostate-specific antigen levels. His result was 13, well above the recommended level of four.

"To find out whether you have prostate cancer is very easy, it's a blood test," Williams said. "Know your number and don't be scared. And as dudes, we don't talk about this at all."

Despite the diagnosis, Williams insisted he was not fearful.

"I'm not worried about this at all," he said. "When I told people that I had cancer, people were shocked because I was walking around like I didn't have it. Prostate cancer is the perfect cancer for guys because it moves so slowly."

The moment turned emotional when Wells stood to embrace his colleague.

"I love you brother," Wells told him.
