UPI 2025 Update: A major change in the world of digital payments has come into force from today. Unified Payment Interface (UpiUnder) P2P (Person-TO-Person) Collect transaction facility has been discontinued from 1 October 2025. The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) had already given this decision through a circular.

Now you will not get Collect Request Service

According to NPCI, now P2P Collect Request on any UPI app or banking app can neither be started, nor root or process. That is, users will no longer be able to use the “Request Money” option to ask for money from anyone.

Instructions received for banks and apps

NPCI has issued clear instructions about this change to all banks, payment service providers and UPI apps. All have been asked to update their system and process, so that after 1 October 2025, this feature is completely closed.

Changes have an impact on users

After this new rule, now no user will be able to ask for money by sending collect request/request money to someone else. Till now cyber thugs used to misuse this feature and implicate the innocent people.

How did cyber thugs cheat?

Cyber criminals used to send a collect request to the users and force them to approve. As soon as the person approves the request, the money would be deducted from his bank account. Thousands of people have fallen victim to cheating in this way. Now this feature is expected to be curbed on such cases.

What is UPI?

UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is a real-time payment system, which has been developed by NPCI. Through this, users can send and receive money immediately by entering QR code, mobile number or UPI ID. It has become the most popular digital payment system in India.

Note

The closure of P2P Collect Request Service on UPI is considered a big step towards safety for users. This will prevent digital transactions and safe, while cyber fraud incidents will also be stopped.
