Court Confirms Conviction in Gruesome Murder Case

The Mumbai High Court has upheld the conviction and life imprisonment of a software engineer for the brutal murder of his former girlfriend and colleague in Pune in 2008.

A bench comprising Justice Girish Kulkarni and Justice Advait Sethna stated in their ruling on September 26 that the case involved a horrific murder driven by extreme hatred, jealousy, and revenge. A copy of the order was made available on Wednesday.

The court dismissed the appeal of Mohinder Madhuresh, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, who challenged the December 2016 ruling of the sessions court that found him guilty of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, Madhuresh killed Khushboo Mishra in his Pune apartment on October 20, 2008. At the time, both were 22 years old and had moved to the city after securing jobs.

The two had a romantic relationship during their college days in Madhya Pradesh. However, after moving to Pune, the woman ended the relationship due to differences, which led to Madhuresh becoming angry and starting to harass and threaten her.
