(Read News): OpenAI has introduced a major e-commerce feature called Instant Checkout inside ChatGPTpowered by a new Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) developed in collaboration with Stripe. The feature is now available in the US for all users — including those on the free tier — allowing them to buy products directly within chat.
At launch, Instant Checkout supports single-item purchases from US-based Etsy sellers. Users can tap Buyconfirm shipping and payment detailsand complete their purchase without leaving the ChatGPT interface.
OpenAI clarified that merchants handle orders, payments, and fulfillment using their existing systems, while ChatGPT acts as a secure intermediarypassing necessary details between the user and seller. The service is free for userswith OpenAI charging a small transaction fee to merchants.

The ACP is being open-sourced to encourage more merchants and developers to build integrations. OpenAI describes ACP as an open standard for AI commerce that allows AI agents, people, and businesses to collaborate securely on purchases.
