From 1972-6, Elvis Presley dated Miss Tennessee model Linda Thompson, who was his live-in girlfriend at Graceland.

Now 75, she has many fond memories of dating Elvis, but also remembers his decline and caring for him through the darker times, before his sudden death in 1977 aged just 42.

Linda regularly posts tribute posts to her old flame on her Instagram and most recently shared old footage with the King singing Early Morning Rain without heavy backing vocals on it.

She accompanied this latest one with some touching words, including a heartbreaking confession.

Linda wrote: "Before there was auto tune, AI and so many other magic tricks to make an artist sound more on pitch - and better than they actually are... There was Elvis. I was moved when I saw this footage today and wanted to share it. I spent so many hours, days, nights, weeks, months, years...traveling with Elvis...loving and caring for him. And I am always heartbroken to see how his condition had deteriorated eight months after we broke up in his last concert. Such a tremendous loss for the world of music, philanthropy, fashion, entertainment & for all who genuinely loved him on a personal level."
