Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s latest romantic comedy, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, has finally hit cinemas, and it comfortably sits in the same space as Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and Jugjugg Jeeyo — an entertaining film packed with lighthearted moments and upbeat music.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is the definition of a comfort film, an easy, feel-good watch that works perfectly for a family outing on the weekend, offering plenty of laughs and lighthearted fun.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’s Screenplay & Direction: Fresh or Cliched?

Shashank Khaitan, known for his signature romantic comedies, has been given a lavish budget this time, which clearly reflects in the film’s grand sets and extravagant visuals. The pacing is engaging for the most part, though the second half after the interval could have been tighter. Still, the writers manage to wrap things up on a high note.

Interestingly, Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf’s characters receive almost as much focus as Varun and Janhvi’s leads, but their roles deserved more screen time. Janhvi Kapoor shows notable improvement as an actor, particularly in the emotional scenes. However, in moments where she portrays the ‘middle-class’ Tulsi Kumari, her performance comes across as a bit forced.

Most of the humour lands well, largely thanks to Varun Dhawan and Maniesh Paul, who carry a majority of the comic timing and punchlines. A refreshing twist is that the film keeps audiences guessing right until the last five minutes about which characters will eventually end up together.
