Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca believes he has spotted a vulnerability in Liverpool that has surfaced from them winning the Premier League title so comfortably last season. Saturday's visitors to Stamford Bridge won the Premier League by a clear ten-point margin and had the title sewn up very early on.

This season, they started the campaign with five back-to-back victories in the top flight. And while some of their performances were not vintage, their results were still impressive.

However, Arne Slot's men have hit a roadblock in recent days after losing 2-1 to Crystal Palace and 1-0 at Galatasaray in the Champions League. If Chelsea were to pick up a win, it would be Liverpool's third defeat in a row to end this latest batch of fixtures before the October international break.

Looking ahead to the clash this weekend, Maresca told members of the press that there are vulnerabilities to this Liverpool team at present. "There is a vulnerability about any team in the world, not just Liverpool," he explained.

"But if a team wins every games, it is impossible to catch them. Now they lost one or two games that shows vulnerability.

"This is something for every team in the world. You can drop points against any team in the Premier League."

While Liverpool may be going through their first tricky spell under Slot, Maresca was insistent that it does not detract from what has been an impressive start - particularly in the wake of the tragic death of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva. "I don't think now it is better to play Liverpool," he added.

"It is always a tough game, always a big team. The way they are doing this season is in any case, fantastic, especially after the Jota tragedy.

"I lived the exact same when I was a player 20 years ago, it is not easy for the players or manager. You have to be very strong.

"This is the reason why for me they are doing, not good, but better than good because dealing with a problem like this is not easy." If Chelsea are victorious this weekend they would move to within four points of the league leaders.
