Until now, only private telecom companies like Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) offered e-SIM services. However, now the state-owned telecom company BSNL has also launched its eSIM service for its customers. This means that BSNL users will now be able to make calls and use the internet without a physical SIM.

After 4G, the company's goal in launching the e-SIM service is to provide a better user experience. It's clear that BSNL has geared up to compete with private companies and is focusing on rapidly upgrading its services and launching new ones.

BSNL Partners with Tata Communications
BSNL has partnered with Tata Communications for the e-SIM service. Tata Communications' platform, MOVE, will be used for e-SIM subscription management. This platform will help make e-SIMs available to millions of people on a large scale. BSNL's major initiative, eSIM, aims to provide customers with a better mobile connectivity experience.

BSNL eSIM works on these networks
Regarding BSNL eSIM, this SIM is capable of operating on 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. Those with phones that support eSIM can take advantage of this new service from BSNL. BSNL Managing Director and Chairman A. Robert Ravi stated that the launch of a pan-India eSIM service will help elevate telecommunications capabilities to a new level.

Focus on 5G after 4G
BSNL recently launched 4G services with the help of 98,000 towers. Following 4G, discussions about 5G have intensified. Several media reports have indicated that BSNL may launch 5G services by the end of 2025. 5G service is expected to start in Delhi and Mumbai by the end of the year.
