Weather update today: The weather is going to turn across the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rains, strong winds and power thunderstorms for the next 4-7 days in many parts of the country. Many states of eastern, northwest and southern India are expected to have heavy rains at different times. Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have been advised to take special vigilance. Fishermen and passengers also have a warning to adopt security measures.
North Bihar is expected to receive very heavy rainfall on 5 October, which can be from 21 to 30 cm. West Bengal and Sikkim also warned of heavy rains on Sunday. Light to moderate rains in Jharkhand may receive heavy rains in some places. This rain in Bihar will continue till October 6. The winds in these areas can be up to 30-40 km per hour. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram will have rain and strong power thunderstorms from October 4 to 10.
Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka are expected to have strong rains and winds from October 4 to 6. The speed of winds in Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema can be 30–40 km per hour. IMD has advised to be vigilant in these areas.
There is a possibility of widespread rains, electricity and hailstorm in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan between 5 and 7 October. There may be very heavy rainfall on 6 October. The weather in Delhi-NCR will start changing from October 5. Due to the effect of Western disturbance, strong winds and frustrated rain can be seen. IMD has issued a Yellow alert for 6 October. Light to moderate rain will start from morning, which can be stopped throughout the day.
There is a possibility of heavy rains in Gujarat, Saurashtra, Kutch and Goa on 8 and 9 October. Between 4 and 7 October, fishermen have been warned not to go into the sea near the northwest, central and north Maharashtra coast of the Arabian Sea.
Yellow alert has been issued in 21 districts on October 4 in Rajasthan. There is a possibility of heavy rains in all districts of the state on 5 and 6 October. Alert for heavy rain has been issued in 14 districts of Tamil Nadu. Several areas including Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Wilupuram and Vellore are expected to receive rain on Saturday. The deep pressure area built in the Bay of Bengal has reached the Gopalpur coast in southern Odisha, which will also show the effect on Tamil Nadu.
IMD has said that due to heavy rains and winds, river-drains may come in spate. People see the weather updates before the journey and stay in safe places. Ensure safety of roofs and electrical equipment of homes. Fishermen should not go to the sea and farmers have been advised to take precautions in the fields.
