If you have planted a capsicum plant in your house or garden and the fruits are coming out small, then it can definitely be a matter of disappointment. You give water every day, take care of the plant, yet when the fruits remain small and weak, the question arises in the mind, why is this happening? Actually, capsicum is a plant that requires a little more care, right soil and temperature. A little mistake can also affect the size of its fruits.

Due to small fruits in the capsicum plant, not only is the lack of fertilizer or water, but sometimes the weather, the pH level of the soil and the lack of pollination also causes this. If the plant does not get enough lights and nutrients, then its growth stops. But the good thing is that by adopting the right solution, you can make the plants healthy again and get big, juicy chillies. Let us know the causes and effective measures in detail.

1. Soil quality and nutritional lack

Shimla chili plant needs fertile, light and organic manure soil. If there is a deficiency of nutrients in the soil, especially nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, then the plant grows but the fruits remain small. Every 15 days, give organic manure like vermi compost or rotten manure of cow dung. Keep the soil loose so that the roots can get oxygen. By adding bio-potash or bonamil, large and healthy fruits start coming in the plants.

2. Sun and temperature

Capsicum requires moderate sunlight. Excessive heat or excessive cold prevents the growth of the plant. If the plant remains in the direct sunlight throughout the day, the flowers dry up and the fruits become small. Keep plants in a place where light sunlight is available for 5-6 hours. In summer, apply a shed net on the plant to protect it from the strong sunlight. In winter, keep the plant from cold air so that the flowers do not fall.

3. Irregular irrigation and moisture imbalance

If the plant is sometimes given too much, very little water, then the moisture of the soil is disturbed. This weakens the roots of the plant and decreases the size of the fruits. Always keep the soil light moist, but do not let the water fill. Give light water daily in hot weather. Irrigation is the best way to irrigate with drip irrigation or spray bottle.

4. Lack of pollination

Fruits come in small and small amounts when pollination is not correct in capsicum flowers. This especially occurs when the plant is kept indoors or there are no pests around. Shake the plants with light hands in the morning so that pollination can be done. Plant marigold or basil plants to attract bees around the flowers. If the plant is indoor, you can pollinate with small brushes.

5. Flowers fall and dry before becoming fruit

Many times flowers come in the plant but fruits are not produced. This may be due to excessive heat, excess moisture, or an attack of pests in the plant. When the plant becomes weak, all its energy is engaged in keeping the flowers, the fruits are not developed. Spray neem oil or domestic pesticides. Give the plant a balance of regular manure and dry soil. If the leaves are stained, then immediately cut the infected leaves.

6. Importance of sorting and size of plant

Due to not pruning the capsicum of capsicum from time to time, the energy of the plant spreads and the fruits become smaller. Cut dried or old leaves every 15 days. Allow the main branches to grow only so that the nutrients reach the fruits directly. After sorting, give light manure and sunlight to the plant.

7. Effect of pests and diseases

Pests like thrips, aphids and whiteflies suck the juice of the leaves of the plant, which makes the plant weakened. This directly affects the size and taste of fruits. Sprinkle neem oil or soap water. Mix neem cake in the soil once a week. Ensure that plants get fresh air and lights.

8. Take care of the distance between plants

If the plants are planted very closely, they do not get enough air and light. This affects the growth of fruits. Keep a distance of at least 1 foot between each plant. Do not plant more than one plant in the pot. Keep the soil around the plants loose so that the roots can spread.

9. Give plants natural boosters

If you want your capsicum size to be large and the plant is healthy, then use homemade organic boosters. Add 1 teaspoon of jaggery, 1 cup cow urine and 1 cup dung manure to 2 liters of water. Keep it in the sun for 2 days and then put it in the roots of the plants. This solution improves both growth of plants and the size of the fruit.
