According to the report, if demographic and structural changes are not taken care of, then there may be a shortage of more than 4.3 crore employees in this sector. This report has been released under the name Future of the Travel and Tourism Workforce, in which 20 major economies have been focused.
WTTC is an organization working on the travel and tourism industry policies and their economic-social contribution around the world. This report was recently released at the 25th Global Summit of WTTC in Rome. This report is based on the resurrection made worldwide. Which includes survey of companies and interviews of organization members and key stakeholders. The report said, in 2024, the demand for travel and tourism was at the highest level ever. The GDP contribution of this sector increased by 8.5% to 10.9 trillion US $, which is 6% higher than the 2019 level. During this period, 2.07 crore new jobs were made, causing total employment to 357 million (35.7 crore).
According to the report, in the next 10 years this sector will create 9.1 crore new jobs, but by 2035, there may be a shortage of 4.3 crore people between the demand and supply of people working in the field, ie the available workforce will be 16% less. This deficiency of labor will affect all 20 major economies. The biggest drawback will be in China (1.69 crore), India (1.1 crore) and European Union (64 lakh). The report said that Europe is still at the forefront of global tourism. 5 of the world's top 10 tourist markets based on GDP are in Europe. At the same time, the Middle East remains one of the fastest growing areas, especially Saudi Arabia, where the expenses and infrastructure of foreign tourists has reached a record level.
