Bsnl vowifi: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced the facility to make voice calls without the need of a mobile network. The company has introduced Vowifi (Voice over Wi-Fi) service in select areas, so that users will be able to call through their Wi-Fi or home broadband connection. With this step, BSNL has now stood equal to private telecom companies like Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea, which already provide Wi-Fi calling.
BSNL has recently started its 4G services across the country and has set up more than 1 lakh mobile towers. Apart from this, it is also planned to install about 97,500 more towers. The Vowifi service was launched on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the company. This facility was inaugurated by Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DOT) on 2 October. Currently, this facility is available in South and West Zone Circles, but BSNL is planning to make it available in other areas soon. Also, after Tamil Nadu, 4G and ESIM services have also been started in Mumbai.
Vowifi service also provides users of crystal-cleaer calling in poor networks areas. To use it, it is mandatory to have Vowifi support in the smartphone. In most modern Android and iPhone devices this feature is already available in settings. People living in indoor or network weak areas, especially, will benefit the most from this service.
BSNL’s Vowifi service will be completely free. Users will not have to pay any additional fee for Wi-Fi calling. The company has confirmed on its official X (East Twitter) handle that this service will improve user experience without any additional expenditure and improve connectivity.
With the introduction of Vowifi service, BSNL is equaling companies like Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea. This step is part of the company’s network and modernization of services and will strengthen its presence in the Indian telecom sector. With better connectivity and customer satisfaction, BSNL has now become more competitive.
BSNL is soon planning to bring Vowifi service to more cities and rural areas. Apart from this, the company is also working on 4G network expansion, ESIM services and other digital products. With this new facility, customers will be able to be connected without network barriers, which will improve the experience of BSNL customers and will help the company compete with private operators.
