Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray then defended the song stating that there was nothing wrong with it and that the protests should end. Nevertheless Doordarshan and All India Radio banned the song preventing its play on TV and radio. The remake won hearts again The song was so popular that it was remade in 2024 for the Kareena Kapoor Tabu and Kriti Sanon film Crew.
