New Delhi . Pakistan has become politics with the news of the supply of Russian Fighter Jet Engines to Pakistan. However, there has been no official confirmation of this deal yet, but still the central government is being targeted by the opposition. Meanwhile, Russian defense experts have caught everyone’s attention by calling this alleged deal profitable for India. He says that if RD-93 engines to put Russia, Pakistan in JF-17, India will benefit from it.
Talking to the language, Pyotrakanov, a new challenges professor in South-East Asia, at the Pruimkov Institute in Moscow, also denied the criticism made by the Government of India regarding this deal. He said, “I don’t think the criticism here is appropriate. If the news of Russia providing engines for JF-17 is correct, then India will really benefit in two ways.”
He said, “First, it shows that China and Pakistan have not yet managed to change the Russian engine. Second, the new aircraft will be familiar and estimated to India, especially because both share the same engine and India has seen the use of JF-17 during the May 2025 crisis (Operation Sindoor).”
Topikhanov said that both countries are dependent on the Russian RD-93 engine for the JF-17 fighter jet built in China. Whenever there is talk of giving these jet engines to Pakistan on behalf of Moscow. The Government of India has opposed this. Whether it is the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee or Dr. Manmohan Singh. ”
Another expert on this matter said on the condition of anonymity that Moscow has tried to convince India on this issue. He said, “Moscow assured not R Delhi that the RD-93 deal is completely commercial without any technical transfer (TOT), while India has been licensed far better RD-33 engine under Technical Transfer (TOT).”
Let us tell you that under a tripartite agreement between Russia-China-Pakistan, Russia is supplying a fully assembled RD-93 engine since the early 2000s. However, Pakistan is now wanting a new updated version, which has not yet developed, as far as the engine is concerned, both RD-33 and RD-93 are both built by the Climov plant in Russia. The RD-33 gives more thrust, but its service period is short. Its service period is only 2,200 hours, while RD-33 is 4000 hours.
Significantly, no official statement has been received about this agreement yet. Only a few reports have been claimed. On the basis of these reports, the Congress party attacked the Modi government at the Center, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday termed the news of Russia on the supply of JF-17 jet engine to Pakistan as a “irresponsible information war” and criticized the Congress for raising the issue on social media. The BJP accused the Congress of “to favor the enemy” instead of India.
