US Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper said on Saturday that he visited Gaza to discuss the post-conflict situation and made it clear that no American troops would be deployed there.
Admiral Brad Cooper wrote on Twitter that he had just returned from a trip to Gaza to discuss the creation of a Central Command-led “civil-military coordination center” that would “assist in post-conflict stabilization.”
Even though Cooper has spoken about the absence of any ‘American boots’ on Gaza soil, various US media houses have claimed that around 200 US troops have arrived in Israel to help in repatriating hostages and monitoring the ceasefire situation as part of the peace plan.
According to Israeli media, US Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Witkoff will address a rally in the evening at Hostage Square in Tel Aviv.
Earlier, Fox News in one of its reports had shown Witkoff and CENTCOM chief Admiral Brad Cooper visiting an Israeli Army post.
US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan is being discussed all over the world. He claimed on Friday that there is “mostly consensus” on the next steps of the Gaza ceasefire plan, while acknowledging that “some details will be worked out.”
In his statements and in various news media reports, Trump talked about the remaining hostages and said that Hamas was collecting them “right now.”
