Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has once again adopted a strict stance to stop the incidents of stubble burning in Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister has given clear instructions to the officials of all concerned departments that the incidents of stubble burning should be reduced to ‘zero’ in the financial year 2025-26. Detailed guidelines in this regard have already been issued under the Government Order.
The Chief Minister said that burning of stubble increases environmental pollution and also has a serious impact on public health. Therefore, farmers should be made aware of alternative measures for crop residue management. All the District Magistrates have been expected to continuously monitor the incidents of stubble burning through satellite and special vigilance should be taken in sensitive districts.
As per the instructions issued, environmental compensation will be imposed on burning of crop residues. A fine of Rs 2,500 has been fixed for area less than two acres, Rs 5,000 for two to five acres and Rs 15,000 for more than five acres. A nodal officer will be appointed for every 50 to 100 farmers who will ensure prevention of incidents of stubble burning.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the public representatives to cooperate in this campaign and said that the goal of clean environment and pollution-free state can be achieved only through joint efforts. As per the instructions, District Magistrates have been asked to appoint a nodal officer for 50/100 farmers while identifying hotspots.
Nodal officers should be given special instructions to reduce the incidents of stubble burning to zero. Along with this, incidents of burning of crop residues are to be reduced to zero by monitoring the harvest time through district, tehsil, development block and regional personnel of Revenue, Police, Agriculture, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj departments.
