Har Ghar Nal Yojana: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued strict instructions regarding the tap water scheme for every house in Uttar Pradesh. He has set a deadline of 15 December 2025 to provide pure drinking water from tap to every house in Vindhya and Bundelkhand region. CM clearly said that by this period, not only tap connections should be installed, but third party audit should also be completed. The Chief Minister warned that compromise on the quality and timeline of the schemes will not be tolerated at any level.
CM was reviewing the updated status of ‘Jal Jeevan Mission i.e. Every House Tap Scheme’ on Sunday. Officials of Namami Gange, Rural Water Supply Department, Jal Nigam and other executing agencies were present in the meeting. CM said that providing pure drinking water to every household is the top priority of the state government. This scheme is not just a program to water supply, but is a mission directly to public health, dignity of women and quality of rural life.
Yogi directed that the projects of Phase-2 and Phase-3 of Jal Jeevan Mission, which have been 90 percent completed, should also be completed by December 15. At the same time, the works whose progress has reached 75 percent have been targeted to be completed by March 2026. The Chief Minister said that there will be no shortage of funds in any area and the quality of work should be kept on top priority.
Officials told in the meeting that Jal Jeevan Mission schemes are being run in the state at a total cost of Rs 90,223 crore. These include 63 surface source based and 548 groundwater source based projects. So far, tap connections have been given to about 1.98 crore rural families in 85,364 villages of the state. At present regular water supply is being provided in 34,274 villages.
Officials told the Chief Minister that the Central Government has put under consideration the proposal to extend the period of Jal Jeevan Mission till December 2028 and increase the project cost. On this, the Chief Minister said that the state government will continue the work with its resources, so that the public can avail the benefits of the schemes on time.
