New Delhi: In Meerut western Uttar Pradesh you will soon be able to enjoy modern amenities while traveling both on the road and in an underground tunnel. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has nearly completed the finishing touches for the full operation of the Namo Bharat Corridor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the Namo Bharat Corridor before Diwali.
After this passengers will be able to travel from Modipuram in Meerut to Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi. The Local 18 team also inspected the modern facilities at Meeruts Begumpul station.
A stunning view 65 feet below
The Namo Bharat station has been constructed by the NCRTC approximately 65 feet below the road in Begumpul the heart of Meerut. This four-story station is equipped with modern amenities. Every possible facility has been provided for passengers here ensuring their comfortable and enjoyable journey to their destination. The station has four gates allowing easy entry and exit. Ticket counters and machines are also installed allowing passengers to purchase tickets cross the security cordon and board the Namo Bharat Train.
Namo Bharat will run at 160 kmph
Of the 82 km stretch from Modipuram in Meerut to Sarai Kale Khan (Delhi) approximately 23 km is in the Meerut region. Four Namo Bharat stations have been built along this route allowing passengers to access and depart. The train is operating on a trial basis from Meerut South to Shatabdi Nagar Begumpul and Modipuram.
Better facilities for patients
Previously green corridors were often required to transport critical patients to Delhi as the journey took a long time. However with Namo Bharat operating from Begumpul station patients will be transported to Delhi at a minimal fare. The stations lift is designed to easily transport patients even on stretchers.
Station design and features
According to NCRTC officials Begumpul station is 246 meters long 24.5 meters wide and approximately 22 meters deep. It is one of the largest stations on the corridor. Passengers will be provided with both Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro services here.
Passenger waiting increases
The Namo Bharat train operates daily from Meerut South to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi. Now the people of Meerut are eagerly waiting that they will be able to travel to Delhi from Begumpul station amidst modern facilities.
