Karthik wrote, ‘When you realize where you started from and where you stand today, that feeling is beyond words. It seems as if every emotion of mine has found its voice today. From that small town boy who only dreamed of this platform, today I am living the same dream. Thank you universe! That night I didn’t just speak, I felt every word. I did not write this speech, it came from the heart.
While giving a speech on stage, Karthik also thanked Kabir Khan, the director of his film ‘Chandu Champion’. He said, ‘There come some moments in life when it seems that all this is not reality but a dream. Today I too am feeling the same. Kabir Sir, when I heard the life story of Murlikant Petkar for the first time, I got to hear the story of a man who never gave up, who always believed in himself. Playing that character was an inspiring experience for me.
Karthik said that what made him happier than receiving this award was that his parents were seeing that moment with their own eyes. He said, ‘My parents are here and I am very happy that this moment is happening in front of them. In childhood, we used to see big actors winning trophies on TV. There was a similar atmosphere in my house also. We used to think that one day we too get such an opportunity and when I became an actor, the first dream in my mind was that one day I get the Best Actor Award.
