In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood its usually the gleaming and extravagant life of celebrities that comes to the forefront. However what happens behind the surface is a lot more than what meets the eye. One such similar story is of a most dependable actor on television and film admired for his commanding screen presence and calm charisma. But behind the success of this self-made star lies a journey that began with hunger rejection and unshakable determination.
Ronit Roys early-day struggles and more
The actor that we are talking about is none other than Ronit Roy. Today he owns a successful security agency providing services to superstars like Saif Ali Khan and Aamir Khan but once he lived through days when even affording a simple meal was a luxury. In an interview speaking about his early days Ronit said “There was a small dhaba near Bandra station where I used to eat daily. Some days I could afford only two rotis and dal — and on worse days not even that.” He recounted how one day he didn’t have enough money for dal and ordered only rotis and onions. But the dhaba owner with a smile served him a plate of dal anyway saying “Aaj tumhara daal wala din hai.” Ronit confessed that even today he remembers that man’s face and gets emotional thinking about that kindness.
Ronit Roys Debut Film
Although he made his debut with the film Jaan Tere Naam it still wasnt easy for him. “I got ₹50000 for my first film” he said “but even that came in small instalments of Rs 4000. Life was still a struggle; there was barely anything left after expenses.” Casting directors often rejected him preferring junior artists over him. “Someone once asked my manager ‘Why cast Ronit when even newcomers can do better?” he shared.
But he didnt give up. He said “Those days of rejection and hunger made me who I am today” Ronit reflected. “Maybe if I hadn’t gone through all that I wouldn’t have become this person.”
Today Ronit has a net worth of approximately Rs 99 crores. From struggling to afford dal to today guarding some of the biggest stars in India his journey speaks of his determination and resilience.
