Bharti Airtel has partnered with Google to build India’s first large-scale Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub and data centre in Visakhapatnam Andhra Pradesh the company announced in a press release.
Backed by an investment of around USD 15 billion between 2026 and 2030 the project will be the largest AI infrastructure initiative of its kind in the country.
The upcoming facility will integrate gigawatt-scale data centre operations subsea network infrastructure and clean energy systems to power high-performance AI workloads. The project will be developed in collaboration with ecosystem partners including AdaniConneX.
Airtel partners with Google & AdaniConneX
Airtel and Google will jointly build a purpose-driven data center in Visakhapatnam along with a state-of-the-art Cable Landing Station (CLS) to anchor Googles new international subsea cables. These cables will link India more deeply with Googles vast global terrestrial and underwater network. Airtel will also develop a high-speed intra-city and inter-city fibre network as part of the project designed to handle huge data flows with low delay and high efficiency.
Airtel will also create an intra-city as well as inter-city fibre network as a part of this project. This high-capacity low-latency network will give faster experiences to Google users and customers. It will increase the resilience and capacity of Indias digital backbone and drive digital inclusivity and transformation across India bringing the benefits of AI to more people and businesses nationwide.

According to the press release this partnership is expected to not only boost digital infrastructure but also expand access to AI technologies across industries. It will strengthen Indias data backbone and enable businesses to harness AI for growth inclusion and innovation.
