T20 World Cup Qualifier: Nepal team gave an amazing performance in Al Amerat on Sunday. Nepal surprised everyone by defeating UAE by one run in the Super Six match of T20 World Cup 2026 Asia Qualifier. Everyone was stunned to see what happened in the last over of this match.
In the last over, UAE needed 10 runs to win. All-rounder Deependra Singh Ari came to bowl for Nepal in the last over. Seven runs were scored in the first three balls of the last over. UAE now needed three runs in three balls to win. But on the fourth ball, Parashar gave an easy catch at long-on. On the fifth ball, Haider Ali was out while trying to take a run. The biggest turning point of the match came when his bat slipped from his hand and the first run was also cancelled. Now UAE needed three runs in one ball to win. Junaid Siddiqui played the ball towards long-on and was run out while trying to take the second run and Nepal won the match by 1 run.
In the match, Nepal won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Nepal scored 140 runs in 20 overs. Asif Sheikh played a brilliant inning of 52 runs for Nepal, while Gulshan Jha and Kushal Malla took the team to a respectable score. Alishan Sharafu played an inning of 58 runs for UAE, but his dismissal changed the course of the match.
With this thrilling win, Nepal remained undefeated in the Super Six stage and secured the top position. Now, Nepal has a great chance to make it to the 2026 T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka. The top three teams in this stage will qualify for the World Cup. Nepal is already in great form after defeating Japan and Kuwait and now its confidence has increased further with this victory.
