Gandhinagar. A historic announcement has been made on Wednesday to accelerate the development of India's sports sector. The Commonwealth Sports Executive Board has recommended hosting the 24th Commonwealth Games in India in 2030. The board has recommended that the hosting of these games be given to Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Now there is every possibility that the centenary celebrations of the Commonwealth Games, which started in 1930, will be held in Ahmedabad. This recommendation of the Board will now be presented before the General Assembly of Commonwealth Sport to be held in November 2025.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said, “This is indeed a proud moment for Gujarat and India.” He praised the foresight of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and welcomed the decision of the Executive Board of Commonwealth Sports to select Ahmedabad for the Commonwealth Games.
It is noteworthy that the 2030 Commonwealth Games will not only be a sports competition but will also be a celebration of 100 years of an international sports festival. These Games will symbolize a century of sporting spirit and cooperation between the 74 countries of the Commonwealth, and the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat is all set to witness this history.

Describing the 100th Commonwealth Games as 'Games for the Future', Usha said that the Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad will be based on sustainability, inclusivity and innovation, which will further strengthen the foundation of the next century of Commonwealth sport and its positive impact will be seen outside India for many years to come.
In this context, Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad will be a moment of pride for every Indian. It reflects India's growing leadership in sports and the Government of India's belief that sports can unite people, promote inclusivity and inspire a new generation. This success of India will strengthen the national vision of 'Developed India@2047', where world-class sports, infrastructure and youth development are linked to the growth story of our country.
