Google will invest $15 billion in India in the next five years

Visakhapatnam. The world’s leading tech company Google is going to make a big bet in India. Google CEO Sundar Pichai has said that his company is preparing to invest Rs 1.33 lakh crore ($15 billion) to create a big hub of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India. Pichai said he has spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about this and informed him about the US tech giant’s plans for its first AI hub in Visakhapatnam. Google has announced a massive data center and artificial intelligence base in Visakhapatnam, which will be Google’s largest AI hub outside the US. The company said that Google will invest $15 billion in India in the next five years.

Indian-origin CEO Pinchai wrote, it was great to speak to Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we shared our plans for the first Google AI Center in Visakhapatnam, which is a historic achievement. This center brings together gigawatt-level computing capacity, a new international sub-sea gateway and huge energy infrastructure, Pichai wrote.

On the other hand, many senior ministers of the Government of India appeared on one stage in a program organized in Delhi. At the same event, Google Cloud Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thomas Kurian said, “This will be the largest AI center outside the US in which we are going to invest.” A formal agreement was also signed in the programme. The agreement has been signed between Google and Andhra Pradesh government. Pichai posted on X soon after this agreement was signed.

According to the agreement, American company Google will invest US $ 15 billion in the next five years to set up an AI center in Visakhapatnam. It will also include the country’s largest data center in partnership with Adani Group. Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and others were present.
