For those craving a quick getaway without emptying your bank balance, we have curated six weekend trips that offer nature, history and fresh air. And the best part is that this year Diwali brings with it a long weekend too making it a perfect time to explore the nearby escapes.

Agra, Uttar Pradesh



Agra is one of the most historic cities in the country famed for being home to the Taj Mahal. The white marble mausoleum is among the most-visited attractions in the world and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. In addition, there are some other mesmerising attractions including Agra Fort and Mehtab Bagh.

How to reach: The Yamuna Expressway/fast trains connect Delhi and Agra in about 2–4 hours depending on the service.

Neemrana, Rajasthan

: Neemrana is about 100 km from Delhi (about 2–3 hours by car on NH8).

How to reach
: Sariska is about 200 km from Delhi and it takes about 3–4 hours to reach here. Trains and buses are also available from Delhi for Alwar.

Lansdowne, Uttarakhand



Lansdowne is a calm hill station managed by the Indian Army. For those craving for quick escapes and easy treks around lakes minus the commercial crowd (as compared to Mussoorie and Nainital), Lansdowne is a perfect destination for you..

How to reach
: Lansdowne is about 250 km from Delhi which takes about 5–6 hour drive. From Delhi, regular buses and private taxis are available for Lansdowne.

Rishikesh, Uttarakhand
