A stunning blend of traditional artistry and modern fashion lit up Shanghai’s style scene as the event “Silk Road Elegance.
Two Nations, One Runway” debuted on October 17.
The show beautifully showcased Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage through creative fashion expressions celebrating Pakistan–China friendship.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi opened the evening saying that fashion acts as a global language that brings nations closer.
He added “Tonight proves that the legacy of the Silk Road continues not through ancient caravans. But through shared creativity and mutual respect.”
The show directed by Adnan Ansari of Riwayat turned the runway into a lively platform of cultural exchange highlighting Pakistan’s finest fashion and jewelry craftsmanship through four artistic themes.
The journey began with Maheen Khan’s elegant designs combining Pakistan’s traditional cultural elements with modern styles.
Her collection inspired by colorful truck art and luxury fashion beautifully merged Eastern charm with Western sophistication.
Next, Moazzam Abbasi paid tribute to Sindh’s iconic Ajrak tradition with organic cotton outfits dyed using natural pigments.
His collection reimagined ancient motifs with a fresh contemporary touch.
Pakistani jewelry brand Winza mesmerized the audience with its exquisite emeralds from Swat Valley featuring a dazzling bridal collection and rare gemstone pieces that reflected Pakistan’s masterful craftsmanship.
The finale by The Factory Edit focused on sustainable fashion featuring upcycled garments made from waste materials showing how environmental awareness can go hand in hand with elegance and creativity.
Around 180 guests including diplomats business leaders fashion enthusiasts and media representatives attended the event.
Among them Huang Weiguo, Chairman of Shanghai Yuanyi Industry Co. Ltd. spoke about fashion’s growing importance in promoting global cultural understanding.
Traditional Pakistani music and creative lighting added to the ambiance giving guests a multi-sensory experience of Pakistan’s artistic heritage.
In his closing remarks Shehzad Ahmad, Consul General of Pakistan in Shanghai emphasized that cultural initiatives like this fashion show are weaving new threads in the historic Silk Road bond between Pakistan and China.
