In today’s time, heart disease is spreading rapidly not only among the elderly but also among the youth. Irregular lifestyle, wrong eating habits and physical inactivity are considered to be its main reasons. But experts say that there is a habit which we do every morning, and this habit can increase the risk of heart diseases manifold.

Especially this habit is – getting up in the morning without drinking water and without activating the body, suddenly coming under physical or mental pressure, such as walking fast after getting up, starting to check office emails, getting angry, or consuming caffeine (tea/coffee).

What does the research say?

According to a report published in the international medical journal Circulation, the highest number of heart attack cases are recorded between 6 and 11 am. The main reason for this is the sudden increase in blood pressure and hormonal activity in the morning, which puts additional pressure on the heart.

When a person jumps into stress or physical activity without hydration and body movement, the arteries can get stretched, increasing the risk of blockage and heart attack.

These are the ‘mistakes’ in the morning which can become dangerous.
1. Do not drink water as soon as you wake up

The body gets dehydrated overnight. If water is not drunk immediately after waking up in the morning, the blood becomes thick, which can stop the blood flow in the arteries.

2. Stand up straight

Waking up suddenly causes fluctuations in blood pressure, which is harmful for the heart. Experts recommend activating your body by sitting in bed for 1–2 minutes before getting up.

3. Paying attention to your phone or laptop as soon as you wake up

This habit not only increases mental stress but can also cause irregular heartbeat.

4. Starting the day with tea and coffee

Consuming caffeine on an empty stomach can cause dehydration and changes in heartbeat. This can cause imbalance in blood pressure.
