While thousands of young people aspire to the world of acting with dreams in their eyes Parineeti had her eyes set on the London financial markets. From Finance to Films Her journey from dreaming of becoming an investment banker to becoming a National Award-winning actress is one of the most unexpected and inspiring stories of the Indian film industry. Parineetis early life was far from the hustle and bustle of Mumbais film sets. She earned a triple honors degree in finance and economics. She aspired to become a prominent investment banker. The turning point in her story came in 2009 when the global economic recession closed the doors to employment in the banking sector. The YRF Connection Seeing her dreams on hold Parineeti returned to India and with the help of her cousin Priyanka Chopra began an internship in the marketing and public relations (PR) department of Yash Raj Films (YRF). This is where the most unusual story of her career begins. The Accidental Audition Parineeti once admitted in an interview that she wasnt particularly passionate about acting instead considering it a job of makeup and pretense. Now her job was to handle the PR of the same actors behind the scenes including her debut film co-star Anushka Sharma. While working at YRF the studios casting director impressed by her personality jokingly asked her to give a dummy audition. Parineeti thinking it was a prank recorded some lines for Kareena Kapoors character Geet in the film Jab We Met.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by @parineetichopra Aditya Chopra’s Discovery This informal audition tape reached YRF chief Aditya Chopra. He was so impressed by Parineetis natural energy and acting talent that he immediately removed her from the marketing department and offered her a three-film acting contract. He told Parineeti that she was wasting her time in PR and that her place was in front of the camera. In 2011 she made a strong debut with a supporting role in the film Ladies vs Ricky Bahl winning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. The very next year in 2012 she received the National Film Award - Special Mention for her lead role in the film Ishaqzaade.
