The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not yet released the detailed notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2025. Once announced, the online registration process will begin on the official website, ctet.nic.in. For the CTET January 2024 examination, around 27 lakh candidates registered, with approximately 9.58 lakh applying for Paper I (Classes 1 to 5) and about 17.35 lakh for Paper II (Classes 6 to 8).
CTET is divided into two papers. Paper I is intended for candidates aspiring to teach at the primary level, covering Classes 1 to 5. It assesses the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to effectively address the educational needs of young learners at the foundational stage.
Paper II is designed for those aiming to teach at the upper primary level, encompassing Classes 6 to 8. This paper evaluates a teacher’s ability to manage the academic, pedagogical, and developmental aspects of students in these grades.
Candidates seeking eligibility to teach across both levels (Classes 1 to 8) must qualify in both Paper I and Paper II. Successfully clearing both papers grants the eligibility certificate required to teach at the primary and upper primary levels.
The CTET examination is conducted for two levels, Primary (Classes 1 to 5) and Upper Primary (Classes 6 to 8), with the minimum age requirement for both set at 18 years and no upper age limit for candidates.
Candidates possessing a D.El.Ed. or B.Ed. qualification will remain eligible to appear for both Paper I and Paper II of the CTET December 2025 examination.
