Desk: Earlier in ODI and T20, there was a big guide line outside the batsman’s off stump, according to which the umpire used to decide the wide ball. But now a similar line is also formed on the leg side of the batsman. If the ball remains inside this line then the ball will not be given wide. Only the ball going outside this will be called wide. Earlier the ball going outside the leg side was usually given wide but now this rule has been changed.

Bowlers will benefit greatly from this rule of ICC. Because the batsmen usually dodged the bowlers by moving on the crease and bowled the ball outside the leg side, it was declared wide. In such a situation, the bowlers will now get some relief.

In the ODI series between India and Australia, it is not becoming so easy for the batsmen to score runs and the reason for this is the two-ball rule which has stopped the batsmen from scoring runs freely. Actually, now in ODI, two new balls are used for 34 overs but after that the match is played with the same ball for the next 16 overs. This gives advantage to the bowlers because they can get reverse swing. Reverse swing in the death overs means that the batsmen will definitely face some problems.
