In a major blow to organized crime networks, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has recovered eight .32 bore pistols from associates of the notorious Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang, intensifying efforts to curb illegal arms smuggling in Punjab. The breakthrough came on October 28, 2025, when six pistols were seized from three prime suspects – Mankaran Singh Deol, Simranjeet Singh and Jaiveer Singh – taking the total recoveries to eight after the earlier two recoveries.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced the development through a post on Twitter, highlighting the police’s prompt action on forward and backward linkages. “Acting on intelligence, #Jalandhar Commissionerate Police recovered 6 more pistols (.32 bore) from Mankaran Singh Deol, Simranjeet Singh and Jaiveer Singh – taking the total recovered pistols to 8,” the post said. Initial investigation reveals that the arms consignment came from Madhya Pradesh, where the accused allegedly supplied arms to rival criminal gangs across the region.

An FIR has been registered at Rama Mandi Police Station under relevant sections of the Arms Act and Indian Justice Code and investigation is underway to dismantle the entire supply chain. A senior officer revealed, “The role of these three in providing weapons to gangs poses a serious threat to public safety; we are tracing all links to prevent further incidents.” The action underlines the Punjab Police’s zero-tolerance stance towards gang violence, amid growing concerns over interstate arms smuggling.

In a action, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, along with Hoshiarpur Police, arrested father-son duo Krishna Gopal and Keshav on October 23 for their involvement in the broad daylight shootout at Ganpati Jewelers on October 18. The attackers fired several rounds at the shop before fleeing on a motorcycle, following which a ransom demand of ₹20 lakh was made from a foreign number. A .32 caliber pistol, live cartridges and the motorcycle of the duo were recovered after a brief exchange of fire during their arrest in Mahdudpur village.

Emphasizing the duo’s links with wider criminal elements, DGP Yadav lodged an FIR under BNS sections for attempt to murder and arms violation at Mahilpur police station. “This arrest has busted an extortion racket targeting businesses; further investigation will unearth the operators,” he said.

These continued successes reflect the aggressive anti-gangster strategy led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, aimed at restoring peace and preventing the proliferation of weapons. With constant monitoring and inter-state coordination, officials pledge to protect sensitive enterprises from terrorism. As the investigation deepens, the public is being urged to report suspicious activities through the helpline.
