Liam and Noel Gallagher were left stunned on stage when a fan set off flares during their set. Oasis kicked off the Australian leg of their world tour on Friday (October 31) night, playing for more than 55,000 at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium. But while performing one of their three sold-out shows Down Under, the rock duo were caught off guard midway through Champagne Supernova when a fan ignited flares in the crowd.
Footage of the incident shows a bright red light flooding the upper stands before someone hurled a flare into the surrounding crowd. It landed on the ground in the packed mosh pit, burning fiercely as concertgoers scrambled to back away from the glare. The brothers didn't let the disruption ruin their set, but Liam, 53, called out the crowd member afterwards. "That was naughty. Naughty, naughty, naughty," he scolded, wagging his finger at the culprit. The duo continued with the show, but Noel, 58, reportedly "looked worried" about the incident.
"Each time you saw this flash, it looked like a fire, and then it was contained fairly quickly," fan Virginia told news.com.au. "I was there with my 13-year-old daughter, so once that went off, I thought it was bad and thought we'll just leave before the end of the song and try and get outside.
"My husband thought Noel Gallagher looked worried. And then Liam like waggled his finger and went 'naughty, naughty'.
She added: "It was so packed, so packed in there. If you're at the footy or the cricket there's a bit more space to move around, but there... I hope people are okay."
After the concert, Liam addressed the incident again on X, condemning the fan's behaviour.
"To the massive C*** who launched that flare into the crowd last night at the gig in Melbourne you are 1 seriously f***ed up individual and you will get yours trust me," he fumed.
Other fans were outraged as they called out the person who lit the flare on Reddit.
"That is so f***ed up they could have burnt some poor girls face. Hope they get arrested and banned from gigs,' one person raged.
A second echoed: "Lighting a flare is one thing but throwing it in to a crowd is quite another. Scumbag behaviour. Hope no one was hurt."
"Got no issue with smoke bombs/flares being lit but throwing it is a f***ing c*** move," another added.
Oasis will return to Melbourne for shows on Saturday and Tuesday, before the duo head to New South Wales for the next leg of their tour.
