New Delhi: Amanjot Kaur sent a billion-and-a-half hearts racing as she juggled and held on to a thrilling catch to dismiss Laura Wolvaardt in the Womens ODI World Cup 2025 final. Hosts India won their maiden ICC Womens World Cup title with a convincing 52-runs win over South Africa at the Dr DY Patil Stadium
Laura Wolvaardts wicket proved to be the decisive moment. The South African captain was anchoring the chase brilliantly as she smashed a superb century while keeping her team in the hunt. Even as India continued to strike at the other end Wolvaardt looked determined to carry the fight and refused to let the game slip away.
Amanjot juggled twice before completing a stunning catch
In the 42nd over Deepti Sharma forced a mis-hit from Wolvaardt sending the ball high toward deep mid-wicket. All eyes turned to Amanjot Kaur who sprinted forward and got under it. The ball initially popped out of her hand and for a moment it seemed the chance might go begging. But Kaur recovered quickly juggling it twice before diving forward to complete a stunning catch and dismiss the South African captain.

Following the catch Kaur collapsed to the ground with a huge sigh of relief while her teammates rushed in to celebrate around her. Their reaction said it all beacuse this was a wicket of massive significance.
India W won by 52 runs
Earlier South Africa opted to field first putting India in to bat. Shafali Verma started the innings on an impressive note as she scored 87 off 78 balls while her 104-run stand with Smriti Mandhana provided a solid start to India. Deepti Sharma then contributed a steady 58 from 58 deliveries and Richa Ghosh added a valuable late cameo of 34 off 24. Their combined efforts powered India to a strong total of 298 in 50 overs leaving South Africa with a challenging chase ahead.
During the chase South Africa began steadily as Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits added 51 for the opening wicket. Once Brits departed India made a brilliant comeback striking consistently to build pressure on the visitors.
