Kartik Purnima 2025 Deep Daan: In Sanatan Dharma, the date of full moon comes in every month, but in Sanatan Shastras, the full moon of Kartik month has been given special significance. The full moon date falling in the month of Kartik is known as Kartik Purnima. The tradition of fasting on this day and bathing in other holy rivers including Ganga has been going on for centuries. By fasting, bathing and donating on this day, one attains inexhaustible virtue.
Apart from fasting and bathing and donating, lamp donation is also done on the day of Kartik Purnima. According to mythology, on this day Lord Vishnu wanders on earth near Mother Lakshmi. It is believed that whoever donates a lamp on this day gets the results of the full moons of the year. According to the Vedic calendar, the full moon date of Kartik month is starting on 4th November i.e. today at 10.36 pm. This date will end on November 05 at 6:48 pm. Udayatithi is considered in Sanatan Dharma. In such a situation, according to Udayatithi, Kartik Purnima will be on 5th November i.e. tomorrow. Tomorrow itself a fast will be observed and bathing and donation will be done.
On the day of Kartik Purnima, a lamp of pure ghee or mustard oil should be lit in the house. On this day, it is auspicious to light lamps of odd numbers like 5, 7, 11, 21, 51 or 101. On this day, lamps must be lit in the courtyard, terrace, main door and near the Tulsi plant of the house. This brings happiness and prosperity in life.
The auspicious time for donating lamps on the day of Kartik Purnima will start at 5.15 pm. This auspicious time is going to last till 7.50 pm. You can get auspicious results by donating a lamp during this auspicious time.
