There's exciting news for fans of the BBC spy drama The Night Manager as first look images show Tom Hiddleston back in action.

The popular six-part series, which first aired almost 10 years ago, followed the thrilling plot of an ex-soldier working as a night manager who finds himself being recruited by a British intelligence agent.

After Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) was hired, he was tasked with infiltrating the inner circle of a secretive arms dealer, remaining undetected.

In the end, the villainous businessman Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie) got his comeuppance after being taken away by his buyers. Now, the wait is almost over to see Jonathan Pine back at it as he's tasked with a new mission for series two.

Taking on the new alias of Alex Goodwin, a low-level MI6 officer running a quiet surveillance unit in London, he's suddenly thrown into a high-intensity task after a chance encounter with an old Roper mercenary, reports Vanity Fair.

The MI6 officer finds himself involved with a Colombian businessman called Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva).

While on this mission, Jonathan meets a woman called Roxana Bolaños (Camila Morrone), who reluctantly agrees to help him with Teddy.

First look images show Tom in character, looking suave as he's seen in various locations, including the UK, Spain, Colombia, and France. One image shows him dancing seductively with a woman and another man next to a pool at night.

While another snap shows him in a deserted landscape with mountains behind him, next to a car alone.

The images also show the return of Olivia Colman, who will reprise her role as intelligence officer Angela Burr.

Other familiar faces making their return will be Alistair Petrie as Sandy Langbourne, with Douglas Hodge reprising his character as Rex Mayhew. Michael Nardone will be making a comeback as Frisky, while Noah Jupe will return as Daniel Rope

Commenting on the show, Tom Hiddleston told the BBC: "The first series of The Night Manager was one of the most creatively fulfilling projects I have ever worked on.

"The depth, range and complexity of Jonathan Pine was, and remains, a thrilling prospect. I'm so looking forward to reuniting with Simon and Stephen Cornwell, David Farr and Stephen Garrett, and to working with Georgi Banks-Davies to tell the next chapter of our story. I can't wait."

The BBC announced that The Night Manager will also have another series after this upcoming one.

Series one of The Night Manager is available to watch on BBC iPlayer in the UK and on Prime Video globally.
