All-rounder Axar Patel has cemented himself as a key player in both of India’s white-ball teams, ODI and T20I. In recent times, his white-ball skillset has overshadowed even Ravindra Jadeja, under whose towering presence lay a significant portion of Axar’s India career in the past decade.

Axar made key contributions to India’s title-winning campaigns at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and the recent Asia Cup 2025.

Most recently, the left-arm all-rounder helped India beat Australia by 48 runs in the fourth T20I of the IND vs AUS series in Carrara. Axar whacked 21* (11) with the bat, including a four and a six in the last over of India’s innings that propelled India’s total to 167.

He made an even bigger impact with the ball, taking the first two Australian wickets to fall, those of Matt Short and Josh Inglis, to finish with figures of 4-0-20-2. His all-round show in India’s victory earned him the Man of the Match award, which was his eighth such award in his 82 T20I career, one more than what Yuvraj Singh managed in his 58-match T20I career.

Now, only three players; Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, have won more Man of the Match awards in T20I cricket than Axar.

Who has the most Man Of The Match awards in T20I for India? How many did Virat Kohli win?

For India, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav have won the most Man of the Match awards in T20Is—16 each. Following them in the third spot is Rohit Sharma with 14 awards. Axar is fourth with eight awards, and Yuvraj is fifth with seven MotM awards in the shortest format.
