Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is not concerned by their recent run of poor results, insisting that league leaders Arsenal are still within their reach.
Despite suffering four consecutive Premier League losses, a victory over Aston Villa has kept them seven points adrift of the Gunners as they head into the weekend.
Arne Slot's team have already matched the number of league defeats they suffered throughout their entire title-winning campaign. However, Hungary's captain Szoboszlai is adamant that this does not spell the end for their aspirations.
"The season is long. If we were seven points clear at this stage nobody would be saying we had won the league already," he stated ahead of their journey to Manchester City, who currently sit one place above them in second.
"Last season when we were leading the way, we just stayed calm and kept on going because anything can happen. We just need to focus on ourselves, win our games and then let's see what other teams are doing.
"When everything works, everyone is happy and it's all positive, it's easy to stick together. The hardest thing is when you find yourself in a position where we were a few weeks ago but even then we stuck together and kept on going, believing it would turn for us."
A morale-boosting and dominant victory over Real Madrid served as the perfect warm-up for their trip to the Etihad Stadium, and Szoboszlai believes they can carry this momentum into their domestic form.
"That's what we've missed I guess. I think everybody could see against Real Madrid all of us running, fighting, being there for each other, covering each other's back," he added.
"The most important thing is to keep going like this. There is a long way to go. Now it's all about the Premier League and facing Man City at the weekend. We know how good they are now."
Last season Liverpool secured victories home and away against City, with the 2-0 triumph at the Etihad particularly memorable as the tireless Hungarian, who found the net that day, collapsed face down on the turf at full-time, completely spent.
It's a characteristic which has been especially noticeable this campaign whilst operating in at least three different roles. "I just try to do my best on the pitch. If it seems like I am a leader, then I'll keep doing that on the pitch, not outside the pitch," he said.
"We are a really close team. Everyone protects each other, we are there for each other, that's been the most important thing."
During his pre-match press conference, Slot was asked whether Szoboszlai's display against Real Madrid echoed that of Steven Gerrard.
"That's probably the best compliment he can get" said the Dutchman. "I think he's been outstanding throughout the whole season but these two games (Madrid and Villa) brought even more out of the team and out of him.
"I think Dom has a lot of qualities but I like his work without the ball every single game and in the last two games that was probably even above his own standards."
