IND vs SA 1st Test Highlights: India suffered a humiliating defeat by 30 runs in the first Test match played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. On the third day of this match, Africa’s second innings was reduced to a score of 153 runs. After which India had to score 124 runs to win. But, the team could score only 93 runs at the loss of nine wickets. While captain Shubman Gill was not available to bat.
This was a few more runs than South Africa expected after losing seven wickets last evening. At that time the visiting team was ahead by only 63 runs. But a combination of the roller effect this morning and a brilliant innings from captain Temba Bavuma gave them a fighting chance in this match. Bavuma played a total of 136 balls, which is a feat in itself on such a difficult pitch, and he did not even get out. In the end his partners fell short. After this India got the target of 124 runs. However, the host team’s batsmen could not hold on to the unstable bouncing pitch.
