×The All India Congress Committee (AICC) will hold a meeting on Tuesday to review the party's preparation and work in dealing with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in 12 states/UTs.
The leadership has called the AICC general secretaries/in-charges, presidents of the Pradesh Congress Committees (PCCs) and leaders of the Congress Legislature Parties of these 12 states for the meeting. The meeting comes after the Congress and other Opposition parties raised questions on the recently-held SIR in Bihar and the poll watchdog announced such revisions of electoral rolls in 12 more states, including the poll-bound West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
"It will be a review meeting in which the respective in-charges and PCC leaders will brief the leadership about the work of our BLO2s (booth level agents-2). The meeting will also discuss how to activate our BLA network in the states where we are organisationally not very strong," said a party functionary.
The meeting is also expected to discuss the experience of the leadership with the Bihar SIR and the steps to be taken in the light of it being conducted in these 12 states, especially about ensuring maximum enrolment of the voters, especially the traditional supporters of the party, sources said.
The meeting is also expected to discuss ways of local Congress committees and BLAs coordinating with the respective party allies in the SIR work in states where the Congress has alliances.
