Spending on AI in India is expected to reach $10.4 billion by 2028. This information was given in a joint report published by IDC Infobrief and UiPath on August 7, 2025. According to the report, 40% of Indian companies have implemented agentic AI and 50% are planning to adopt it in the next 12 months. AI investments in 2025 will focus on building infrastructure for transformative and high-value use cases.
80% of Indian companies say that agentic AI is increasing productivity while 73% have seen improvements in decision making. This technology is being rapidly adopted in sectors like manufacturing, retail, healthcare and life sciences. Debdeep Sengupta, Regional Vice President, South Asia, UiPath, said, “Agent automation is rapidly redefining business operations across India. While enterprises in the region are harnessing the full potential of AI agents to streamline workflows and autonomously run complex business processes, trust and security remain barriers to widespread implementation.” Their platform addresses these barriers by increasing security and compliance. 69% of organizations are using agentic AI to increase productivity, 59% to improve personal customer engagement, and 57% to detect threats and fraud. This technology is proving effective in front and back-office functions.
