IIT Guwahati Releases GATE 2026 Exam Schedule, Exams to Be Held Over Four Days in February

GATE 2026 Exam Schedule: IIT Guwahati has released the complete GATE 2026 exam schedule. The exams will be held in two shifts between February 7th and 15th.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has released the exam dates for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2026). Candidates can now view the complete exam schedule by visiting the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

The GATE 2026 exams will be held over four days in February next year. This time, the exam will be divided into two shifts: forenoon and afternoon. The exams will be held between February 7th and 15th, 2026. The morning shift will be from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, and the afternoon shift will be from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. These exams will be conducted in various cities across the country, and the IITs will be responsible for the entire organization. The GATE 2026 result will be released on March 19, 2026.

When will the exams be held?

On the first day, February 7, 2026, the morning shift will feature exams for Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Geology and Geophysics, Instrumentation Engineering, Mathematics, Mining Engineering, Textile Engineering and Fiber Science, Engineering Sciences, and Life Sciences. This will be an important day for students preparing for PG admissions or PSU jobs in these subjects.

The afternoon shift will feature exams for Aerospace Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Geomatics Engineering, Physics, and Humanities and Social Sciences. A large number of students appear in these subjects every year, making it a busy day.

On the second day, February 8, 2026, the morning shift will see the exams for Computer Science and Information Technology Paper 1 and Statistics. Computer Science is the most popular subject for GATE every year, making this day crucial for millions of students. The afternoon shift will feature the second Computer Science and IT paper, Ecology and Evolution, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, and Production and Industrial Engineering. Due to the different papers being conducted in both shifts, candidates will need to plan ahead to ensure they reach the exam center without any hassle.

On the third exam day, February 14, 2026, the morning shift will feature the exams for Civil Engineering Paper 1, Electrical Engineering, and Production and Industrial Engineering. Civil and Electrical are two of the highest GATE candidates in the country, making this day a crucial day for the exam. The afternoon shift will feature exams for Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering Paper 2, Mechanical Engineering, and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. Mechanical is also a popular subject with a large number of students participating.

On the final day, February 15, 2026, the morning shift will feature the Electronics and Communication Engineering exam. This paper also attracts the largest number of candidates in the country. The entire GATE 2026 exam schedule will conclude with the Architecture and Planning and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence exams in the afternoon shift. Given the rapidly growing importance of AI and data science in the modern era, this paper will also see a large number of candidates appear.
