Many people don't like the food served on the train, so they bring home-cooked food. However, this food often proves costly for passengers. A small mistake can result in a fine, leaving them unable to forget the journey for the rest of their lives. The Railways have taken action against such individuals.
Indian Railways is continuously taking action to catch those traveling without tickets and those flouting the rules. All divisions are forming teams at different stations on different days to apprehend such individuals. In this regard, a day-long campaign was launched in the Agra Division on November 18th. The Railways achieved success in this campaign.
According to the division's Public Relations Officer, Ms. Prashanti Srivastava, a special check was conducted at Rundhi station against those traveling without tickets, irregular travel, unbooked luggage, and littering. As a result, 110 passengers traveling without tickets/irregularly were fined ₹30,740, and 3 passengers were fined ₹300 for littering/smoking. A total of ₹31,040 was collected from 113 passengers. Ticket checking staff and a sufficient number of GRP and RPF personnel were present during the inspection.
During the inspection, it was found that leftover food items were being thrown into the train or station, contributing to littering, which is a crime. These fines were imposed.
According to the Agra Division, such inspections are being conducted regularly across the division to curb ticketless travel, irregular travel, unbooked luggage, and littering. The Railways have requested passengers to refrain from littering stations and trains. Furthermore, travel with valid tickets and only after booking luggage beyond the prescribed limit.
