The fog of the cold morning had not yet completely dispersed when a big initiative in the meeting room of the Secretariat gave new hope to lakhs of farmers of the state. To strengthen the canal system which has been waiting for repair and expansion for years, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved 95 new projects in the review meeting of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister clearly said that the strength of the canal system is the backbone of any agriculture-based state. Therefore, the government has given green signal to 95 projects with a total cost of ₹39453.39 lakh. Upon completion of these projects, irrigation capacity will be restored in 36 thousand hectares of land, which will directly benefit about 9 lakh farmers and rural families. Besides, 273 hectares of departmental land can also be secured. The Chief Minister directed that all the projects should be completed with high quality in the stipulated time.

With these works, not only will the irrigation network be strengthened but water availability will also become permanent and smooth.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister asked the department to survey the unused departmental land and make a plan for its use. He said that better utilization of these lands can play an important role in increasing the income of the department.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the works related to flood management in the meeting. He said that keeping in mind the needs of the coming year, all preparations should be started from January itself. He also gave instructions to prepare a detailed action plan under the guidance of public representatives, so that all the necessary works can be completed in time.
