The trailer for Ranveer Singh’s upcoming action‑thriller ‘Dhurandhar’ dropped with massive visual hype but it also sparked a fierce online debate. YouTube creator Dhruv Rathee took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize the film’s extreme violence and his comments quickly turned into a heated exchange with actor Ranvir Shorey.
What is the entire matter?
Dhruv Rathee posted “Aditya Dhar has truly crossed a limit of cheapness in Bollywood. The extreme violence gore and torture shown in his latest film trailer is the equivalent of watching ISIS beheadings and calling it ‘entertainment.’” He added that the director’s lust for money is “unhinged” and urged the Censor Board to act questioning why kissing scenes get cuts while brutal torture is allowed.
Within hours netizens dug up Rathee’s old video where he praised Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ calling it an important Indian film. When confronted Rathee admitted his mistake writing “I was wrong; back then I didn’t understand the impact such films have on society.”
Ranvir Shoeys strong reply to Dhruv Rathee
Actor Ranvir Shorey jumped in replying “Buddy you’re wrong most of the time. But I love how you’ve turned that into a career.” Rathee shot back with a screenshot of Shorey’s Bigg Boss OTT stint saying “Better than a career where you have to do fake fights on Bigg Boss for livelihood.” Shorey retorted “The fights in BB house are not half as fake as you buddy. Lage raho.” The back‑and‑forth quickly went viral with fans taking sides.
