Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially released the 21st installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, bringing major relief to millions of farmers across the country. Under this release, the Central Government has transferred more than ₹18,000 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 9 crore eligible farmers. Each farmer has received ₹2,000 as part of the latest quarterly payment.
What the PM Kisan Scheme Offers
The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme is one of India’s largest farmer support initiatives launched in 2019. The scheme ensures an annual support of ₹6,000 to every eligible small and marginal farmer, provided in three equal installments of ₹2,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
This financial assistance aims to support farmers with their agricultural needs, reduce financial stress and help ensure a better livelihood for rural households.
While crores of farmers have received the latest installment, there are still many whose payments have been delayed. Various eligibility rules and documentation issues may be the reason behind the pending amount.
Some common causes include:
✔ Incorrect or incomplete documents
✔ A mismatch in Aadhaar and bank account details
✔ Pending eKYC verification
✔ Issues related to land ownership updates
The government has emphasized that payments for such cases are kept on hold only temporarily and will be released once the verification process is complete.
To receive benefits under this scheme, a farmer must meet the following conditions:
Must be an Indian citizen
Must own cultivable agricultural land in their name
Should be categorized as a small or marginal farmer
Pension beneficiaries must be receiving less than ₹10,000 per month (excluding Group D employees)
Should not be an Income Tax payer
Should not be an institutional landholder
Additionally, the scheme only covers those farmer families whose members do not hold high-ranking government positions or have income beyond the pre-defined limit.
Farmers falling under these categories are not eligible:
Institutional landholders such as trusts or corporate-owned farms
Families with members holding constitutional posts (like President or Governor)
Former or current MPs, MLAs, Ministers, or Mayors
Central/State government employees above Group D
Income taxpayers
Practicing professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, architects
Farmers who purchased agricultural land after February 1, 2019, may also face payment delays until land verification is completed.

PM Kisan is now recognized as the world’s biggest Direct Benefit Transfer program. In its journey so far, the government has released more than ₹4 lakh crore to farmers through 21 installments. The scheme also supports around 2.4 crore women farmers—strengthening rural livelihoods and empowering households across India.
The release of the 21st installment once again highlights the Government of India's commitment to improving the financial well-being of farmers. Those who have not yet received their ₹2,000 payment should immediately verify their details and complete pending requirements on the official portal.
With continuous improvements in verification and transparency, PM Kisan aims to ensure that every deserving farmer receives timely support to sustain their agricultural activities and livelihood.
