Winter Contact Lens Safety Tips: Wearing contact lenses in winter can be a bit challenging, as the air becomes dry in cold weather and the risk of dryness, irritation and infection in the eyes increases. In such a situation, if you also use contact lenses, then it is very important for you to take care of some important things so that there is no infection in the eyes and you are able to carry the lenses very well. So today we will tell you what things should be kept in mind while wearing lenses in this season.
Keep eyes moisturized: Due to dry air in winter, eyes become dry quickly. Use lubricating eye drops before inserting lenses and throughout the day (as recommended by your doctor). Use a humidifier inside the house so that the air remains moist.
Clean hands thoroughly before inserting lenses: The risk of infection increases in winter. Before inserting or removing lenses, wash hands with antibacterial soap and dry thoroughly. Do not touch the lenses with moisturised hands, this may damage the lenses.
Maintain distance from heaters and blowers: Direct hot air from the heater makes the eyes more dry. While using a heater or car blower, do not allow direct air to blow into the eyes.
Drink enough water: People drink less water in winter, which causes dehydration in the body and dryness in the eyes. Keep drinking light amounts of water throughout the day.
Avoid dust and smoke by wearing lenses: Pollution levels are higher in winter. Wear sunglasses while going out so that dust, dirt and cold wind do not directly hit the eyes.
Do not be negligent in cleaning the lenses: Change the solution daily, do not add the old solution. Also clean the lens case regularly and replace it every 3 months.
Do not wear lenses if there is eye irritation: If eyes become red, irritated, or watery, remove the lenses immediately. If the problem persists, consult a doctor.
Apply makeup only after lenses: In winter, moisturizing makeup products are used more, which can cause the lenses to stick. First wear lenses, then apply makeup. Even while removing makeup, remove lenses first.
