Major Mohit Sharma was born on 13 January 1978 in an ordinary family of Haryana. Since childhood, he had a feeling of patriotism and a dream of wearing a uniform. Apart from being sharp and disciplined in studies, he also remained ahead in sports and physical ability. His inclination towards the army was so strong that he left his engineering studies midway and chose to become an officer in the Indian Army.

He successfully completed the rigorous training at the National Defense Academy (NDA) and then the Indian Military Academy (IMA). Selection for Parachute Regiment

The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) of the Indian Army is considered one of the most formidable and challenging units of the country. Only those officers and soldiers who have extraordinary physical and mental abilities and have the courage to take risks can reach here. Major Mohit Sharma moved beyond the normal infantry and proved himself in the Special Forces. This selection was not easy. It was only after rigorous training day and night, rigorous testing and testing of capabilities at every level that he got the honor of becoming a part of this special unit. This was the turning point from where his military life took a new direction. The responsibilities of covert operations, anti-terrorism operations and operations by penetrating deep into enemy bases fell on his shoulders.

It was necessary to understand the stronghold of terror

Major Mohit Sharma's deployment with Special Forces was mainly in sensitive and terrorism affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Here he had to lead many secret and high-risk missions. His specialty was that he conducted operations not only on the basis of force, but also on the basis of wisdom and strategy. Understanding of local geography, detailed study of terrorists' activities, and quick and precise action while keeping in mind the safety of the soldiers, all these were part of their planning. His behavior with his subordinate soldiers was full of strict discipline as well as human sensitivity, hence they considered him not only as a commander but also as a guide and brother.

Major Mohit Singh Story Operation Lyari

Major Mohit Sharma had changed his appearance to join the terrorist cadre.

What was Mission Lyari?

Mission Lyari was a secret and courageous operation, which was designed to attack the terrorism going on in Jammu and Kashmir to its roots. The basic objective of the mission was to break the backbone of a dangerous terrorist network operating from across the border. Intelligence agencies came to know that there is a stronghold of terrorists in a particular area, from where not only weapons are supplied, but trained terrorists are sent to different parts of the valley. Their network was very secret, established among the local people and completely hidden from outside eyes. It was considered almost impossible to destroy this network through a normal military operation, because the terrorists were completely aware of the area and had continuous access to information.

When Major changed his identity

In such a situation, Major Mohit Sharma prepared an extraordinary plan. Infiltrating and pretending to join the terrorist cadre was an important part of the plan. Under this plan, Major Sharma changed his entire identity. He adopted a new name, a new background and a new personality as a local militant. Beard, dress, language, speech and lifestyle, everything was made to be like that of the staunch terrorists of the area. With fake identities, they gradually got closer to the gang, which was receiving instructions from across the border. He presented himself in such a way that the terrorists did not doubt him.

He started attending his meetings, listening to his plans and came under his circle of trust. During this, he carefully gathered information about the structure of the network, the locations of weapons, contact details and methods of access to the main commanders. Every information was conveyed to the army and intelligence agencies through extremely secret channels.

What Was Operation Lyari In Pakistan Dhurandhar Ranveer Singh Major Mohit

It is discussed that Ranveer Singh is playing the role of Major Mohit Sharma in the film Dhurandhar.

This is how the last phase of Mission Lyari was made.

When sufficient information was gathered and it became clear when and where the terrorist hideout would be most vulnerable, the final phase of Mission Lyari began. Special troops of the army laid siege and Major Mohit Sharma, leading from inside, put the terrorists in such a situation from where their chances of survival were almost eliminated. In the encounter that started after this, many dangerous terrorists were killed, their network was destroyed and a huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered. This operation was considered one of the most successful and courageous actions of the security forces, because in this the entire structure of the enemy was understood and broken from within.

Risk, courage and psychological pressure

An operation like Mission Lyari demands not only physical courage but also immense mental strength. Major Sharma was in danger at every moment that if his true identity was revealed, not only could he be killed, but his entire operation would also fail. Even while living among the terrorists, he had to not forget military dignity, humanity and his basic objectives. Living day and night among the enemy, maintaining a false identity in every conversation, maintaining contact with the army through signals, gestures and code words, all this can be very tiring and stressful for any ordinary person. But Major Mohit Sharma maintained his patience even in all these circumstances and carried the mission safely to the end.

Supreme Sacrifice and Ashoka Chakra

Even after Mission Lyari, Major Mohit Sharma continued many audacious operations. Ultimately, on 21 March 2009, he was seriously injured during an encounter in the forests of Kupwara region of Jammu and Kashmir. Despite heavy enemy fire, he moved forward and saved the lives of his comrades and gave a befitting reply to the terrorists. He sacrificed his life in this fierce struggle. For his amazing bravery, leadership and supreme sacrifice, the Government of India posthumously awarded him the Ashoka Chakra, which is the country's highest military decoration in peace time.

The film Dhurandhar is just an attempt to present a glimpse of this extraordinary life and martyrdom. The real story lies in the soil where he sacrificed his life. Taking inspiration from his life, we have to take a pledge that we will move forward in our respective fields considering honesty, courage and national interest as supreme. This will be a true tribute to Major Mohit Sharma and Mission Lyari. If reports are to be believed, many other characters will be seen at the center of the film, who have always made efforts to protect the country and are doing so even today.
