New Delhi: A 40-year-old woman, Deepti Chaurasia, died by suicide at her home in Delhi’s Vasant Vihar on Tuesday evening. According to police, she was found hanging from a ceiling fan using a dupatta. Officers said there were no immediate signs of domestic dispute, but the exact reason behind the suicide is still being investigated.
Police have found a suicide note from the house. In the note, Deepti had not blamed anyone. However, her family has filed a complaint blaming that she was provoked into taking the extreme step, and the police are examining their claims.
Deepti was the daughter-in-law of Kamal Kishore, the owner of Kamla Pasand and Rajshree pan masala brands-one of Delhi’s well-known business families. She married his son, Arpit Chaurasia, in 2010. The couple has a 14-year-old son.
The sudden loss has left the entire family and neighbourhood in deep shock. Police are invesigating the matter to understand what led to the tragic incident.
Recent suicide casesA 16-year-old student of St Columba’s School in Delhi died by suicide by jumping from the platform of an elevated Metro station. Two days after the suicide, school authorities suspended the headmaster and three teachers of St Columba’s School. The action by the school came after the father of the student named them in the FIR. The deceased, Shourya Patil, died by suicide on Tuesday & left a note behind alleging harassment. In the suicide note recovered by the police, Shourya blamed his teachers for harassing him for the past one year. Broken by the death of their son, Shourya’s parents said that will be taking out protests outside the school.
In another incident a class 11 student of a private school in Semaria in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district died by suicide. The victim was found hanging in her home earlier this week. When officers searched her room, they found her mobile phone and a handwritten note tucked inside her notebook.She claimed the teacher would grab her hand while scolding or even hitting her, then ask whether her hand felt cold. The note’s mention of the particular teacher has become a key part of the investigation. Officers say they will only comment on his role once the inquiry is complete.
